Spring usually conjures up everything pink and beautiful, happy and refreshing: new pops of color brighten the closet, lighter clothes and warmer days call for iced coffee or boba, and the common theme of love reappears through seasonal K-pop releases. It's a welcome, if familiar, transition from the bitter winter chill, and I wasn't sure at first how to create a playlist that says something new for this season.
But then I realized that not everyone may share the same tune when it comes to love – which means some can feel broken in the spring. Literally or figuratively, there may be people who feel colder and lonelier, or who need to re-learn what it means to stand alone. To get up on your own two feet again and get stronger, to one day walk as lightly as the flowers that drink the sun.
Here's a playlist for the rest of us: those who take the time this spring to heal and warm up, not just under the sun but within ourselves as well. The songs chosen represent the myriad of emotions, aesthetics, and temperatures that spring can hold back: a strange mix of cold, warm, sweet, yet bitter elements that redefine the experience for each of us.
